We found the sample copy we received for review full of great ideas, and refreshingly for a cookbook – to the point. There are no ode’s to childhoods spent in Provence or musings on long lost origins of a dish; this cookbook has a singular defined goal and it executes it well: dishes are quickly and simply explained and packed full of flavor, while keeping a critical eye on the health aspect of the dish.

Each dish has a handy full nutritional breakdown and also lists an exchange / choice list for those following the American Diabetes Association food exchange list. In total there are fifty recipes here, with a healthy balance for meat eaters and vegetarians alike. If you know a foodie in your life struggling to make a transition to healthier cooking for any reason, this cookbook would make an excellent inspirational gift.
